Boutique content development firm Waterhaven Media, LLC, is preparing to release Shot Clock, the third full-length novel, and fifth title overall, in author Mark Parragh’s John Crane spy adventure series. The novel completes the first phase of the Crane series and sets the stage for major developments in the franchise.

Waterhaven Media is planning several initiatives to expand the series platform and invite new readers to enter Crane’s world of stylish action and adventure. The rollout plans for 2018 include a boxed set of the first three Crane novels and a revised and expanded edition of the novella Sneakernet.

“The first three Crane novels are meant to fit together into a cohesive arc,” says author Mark Parragh. “Right now, they hit points along that arc, but I wanted to fill in some gaps to make that storyline more direct, and to clean up some inconsistencies in the sequence of the books. Waterhaven’s plans for the first Crane boxed set provided the perfect opportunity for that.”

The first Crane boxed set, to be titled John Crane: The Skala Archive, completes the story of Crane’s discovery of the notes left behind by gangster Branislav Skala, the antagonist of the first Crane novel, Rope on Fire. The notes lead Crane and his billionaire patron Josh Sulenski behind the curtain into a secret world, beyond governments and public institutions, where money and raw power control global civilization. The set will include the first three novels, along with the novella Bird Dogs and a new Crane novella still in development.

Once the boxed set is released, Parragh plans to expand Crane’s adventure in Iceland, Sneakernet into the fourth full-length Crane novel. The revision provided the opportunity to clarify the reading sequence of the Crane series. “There’s always been a little uncertainty about where Sneakernet fits into the series,” says Parragh. “This revision will mean a minor retcon of Crane’s first meeting with technical wizard Georges Benly Akema, but it will untangle the sequencing and provide a straightforward reading order for new fans.”

“With the third novel complete, the time was right to release a Crane boxed set,” says Waterhaven Media’s Director of Strategy and New Product Development, Nina Sullivan. “We’ve got big plans for the Crane franchise in 2018, and they aligned perfectly with Mark Parragh’s creative vision for his series. We’re glad we could give him this opportunity to tweak the series continuity.”

Shot Clock is set for release in February. The boxed set will follow in the spring, at a date to be announced.
