Following the success of his historical adventure novel, Rumrunners, author Mark Parragh returns to the John Crane series with his newest novel, Aftershocks. The fourth book in the popular spy adventure series, Aftershocks will be published by Waterhaven Media in June.

Aftershocks combines all new content with previously published and unpublished John Crane material. It includes a revised version of the novella Sneakernet, which was previously only available to subscribers to Mark Parragh’s VIP email list. The result is a new full-length adventure that takes Crane around the world, from Iceland to central Africa, and plunges him into danger greater than any he’s faced before.

Aftershocks tells the story of the growing friendship between Crane and Cameroonian technical prodigy Georges Benly Akema, who creates the tools and gadgets he relies on in the field. Reeling from the effects of a brutal attack on his family, Georges comes to America and finds a place providing behind the scenes support for Crane’s missions. However, he’s soon drawn out of his lab and finds himself in the field.

Meanwhile, the trauma they fled from continues to have devastating effects on Georges’ family. His guilt over his imagined failure to protect them only worsens when a mission in Iceland goes awry and leaves Crane alone and hunted in a hostile landscape. Finally, with his family in crisis, Georges and Crane must come together in a desperate stand against a growing cadre of enemies. They must either find a way to mend what was broken or die trying.

“I’m proud of Aftershocks,” said Parragh. “It fills in missing details about the early days of Crane’s story, and then carries readers right into the present. At the same time, it launches the second phase of the series after the pivotal events of the last novel, Shot Clock. Aftershocks also works as a standalone story, serving as another entry point for new readers who haven’t read the first books. It explores a new dimension of John Crane’s world, and I think readers are going to like it.”

Aftershocks will be available in ebook format at Amazon.com. A print edition will follow, though the release date has still to be determined.
